With over 100 million albums sold worldwide, Iron Maiden is considered one of the most successful heavy metal bands in history, having played over 2,000 live shows internationally over a career spanning more than four decades. But the band (and particularly lead singer Bruce Dickinson) has also been building a beer empire and now are working with BrewDog USA on a new collaboration brewed in Columbus, Ohio.
Dickinson is a brewer and serious about his beer. In 2013 He personally designed and developed Trooper, a collaboration between Iron Maiden and Robinsons Brewery that went on to become an international success.

The fact that Iron Maiden is one of Britain's most successful rock exports ever, selling over 90 million albums and followed by millions of fans all around the globe, naturally assisted this rapid rise in popularity of Trooper, however, the sheer quality of the beer plays a major role in this unique success story. As one of Britain's premier real ale reviewers, Pete Brown, noted, it really is 'a pint that seems to evaporate from the glass'. What many would not know is that the story of Iron Maiden has its roots at Rosslyn Park with Rod Smallwood playing here in the late seventies and early eighties for the Stags and the occasional XXX Club. He is still a member.
"So what do you do when your brand means you can?" asks Rod with a smile, "why, you make your own beer of course, which we did with Robinsons. They are still a family business after 175 years in the brewing trade and the whole process was a labour of love on both sides to create a great real ale."
Continuing the rugby theme, the first Troopers delivered in NZ were to former All Black fly half and World Cup winning defence coach, Wayne Smith. He and his son are huge Maiden fans and, for his defence training sessions prior to the semi and final of the 2011 World Cup, Wayne used Maiden's Fear of the Dark as a soundtrack to give impetus to the sessions and awarded Maiden Ts to the best defensive player in each of those matches. He says Trooper is his favourite beer now, along with Steinlager of course!
Perhaps if England were to play the track The Trooper, after which the beer was named, as they ran out at the World Cup 2015, they may have an even better shot at winning it! And maybe they can get Trooper on sale in the stadium so the fans can celebrate in appropriate style. Wouldn't it be great if it became yet another rugby tradition that had its roots here at Rosslyn Park? That story starts here!
The smash-hit collaboration between the band and Robinsons began in the spring of 2012, according to the Publican's Morning Advertiser. But this wasn't simply a case of a band putting its name on a product. Maiden's Bruce Dickinson selected the beer's hops himself, after a blind tasting.
"I'm a lifelong fan of traditional English ale," Dickinson said, via the beer's website. "I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer. I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavor and texture that is Trooper."
Robinsons director of marketing David Bremner unveiled the Trooper stats at the Publican's Beer Innovation Summit. He said sales are up some eight percent in pubs across the U.K. Robinsons has since been approached about a similar beer partnership with Motorhead, but declined. "Bruce is considered knowledgeable and fanatical about beer," Bremner said. "So there was a truly authentic relationship."
A family-run regional brewery founded in 1938 by William Robinson at the Unicorn Inn in Stockport, Cheshire, England. Robinsons produces a range of exclusive beers while housing more than 360 public houses mostly in North West England.
Sure, there are still some terrible ones out there. But there are also loads of brands producing quality non-alcoholic beers and alcohol-free lagers, some of which rival their higher-ABV equivalents in taste, aroma and body.
Danish gypsy brewer Mikkeller produces its non-alcoholic beers in Belgium, a country that has a long tradition of adding fruit to beer. So this pale ale laced with raspberry juice feels like a natural fit.
The spices at play in this one are cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Rather than overwhelm this non-alcoholic beer, they add a little warmth to the other flavours, which include a little burnt chocolate and a hint of berry.
He had forgotten the beer again. He remembered that he had forgottenonly as he opened the apartment door. A wave of smoke and onions andhamburger flowed past him into the dingy corridor and he stumbled onthe garbage pail, plunked right in the doorway for him to lug along thepassage to the chute. The bed was not made in one of their two roomsand newspapers littered the other. Elsie was in the kitchen. 781b155fdc
